This in-home program is for children eligible to attend 3-year-old kinder and their families. The program aims to build self-esteem and confidence for a smooth transition to school.

Service details

The Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) aims to empower families to support their child’s learning at an age-appropriate level. An in-home Mentor is engaged to support your family at your home. The program begins when the child is in three-year-old kinder (or child-care) and continues through the child’s first year at school to support a smooth school transition.

The Mentor will meet Parents/Carers regularly to provide the following:

  • Support for Parents/Carers to be their children’s first teachers
  • Tools to support play and age-appropriate educational activities
  • Information regarding training opportunities for Parents/Carers
